General Questions
Do I need a referral to start therapy?
No. You can schedule an appointment directly without a referral from your primary care doctor. Simply call our office to schedule.
What types of therapy do you offer?
We offer individual therapy, couples counseling, family therapy, group therapy, and medication management. Our therapists use evidence-based approaches including CBT, DBT, EMDR, ERP, and trauma-focused therapies.
How do I know if I need therapy?
If something in your life is causing you distress, whether it’s anxiety, sadness, relationship problems, difficulty coping, or just a feeling that things aren’t right, therapy can help. You don’t need a diagnosis or a crisis to benefit from professional support.
How long are therapy sessions?
Individual therapy sessions are 50 minutes. Initial evaluations and some specialized sessions (couples therapy, family therapy, medication evaluations) may run longer.
How often will I need to come?
Most clients start with weekly sessions. As you make progress, your therapist may recommend moving to biweekly or monthly sessions. The frequency is based on your needs and goals.
What’s your cancellation policy?
We ask for at least 24 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or reschedule. Late cancellations or no-shows may be subject to a fee, as that time was reserved specifically for you.
Insurance & Payment
What insurance do you accept?
We accept most major insurance plans, including Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, United Healthcare, Humana, Medicare, Medicaid, AvMed, and Tricare. The best way to confirm your specific coverage is to call our office; our front desk team can verify your benefits before your first appointment.

- Miami: (786) 732-0071
Do you offer self-pay or sliding scale options?
Yes. We offer self-pay rates for clients who prefer not to use insurance. Ask our office about current rates.
Will you bill my insurance directly?
Yes. For in-network plans, we handle the billing directly. You are responsible for any copays, coinsurance, or deductible amounts at the time of service.
Scheduling & Your First Visit
How do I schedule an appointment?
You can schedule an appointment by calling either of our locations.
- Orlando: (407) 866-6250
- Miami: (786) 732-0071
What should I expect at my first appointment?
Your first session is about getting to know each other. Your therapist will ask about what brought you in, your background, your goals, and what you’re hoping to get from therapy. There’s no pressure to share everything at once; this is the beginning of a conversation, not an interrogation.
What should I bring to my first visit?
Bring a valid photo ID, your insurance card (if applicable), and any completed intake paperwork. If you’ve been prescribed psychiatric medications, a list of current medications and dosages is helpful.
How long is the wait for a new appointment?
Wait times vary depending on the provider and service. We do our best to schedule new clients within 1-2 weeks. If your need is urgent, let us know and we’ll do everything we can to get you in sooner.
Telehealth
Do you offer online therapy?
Yes. We offer telehealth sessions for individual therapy, couples therapy, and family therapy to anyone located in Florida or Georgia. Medication management telehealth is available for Florida residents only.
Is telehealth as effective as in-person therapy?
Research consistently shows that telehealth therapy is equally effective as in-person therapy for most conditions, including anxiety, depression, and PTSD. Many clients prefer the convenience of being able to attend sessions from home.
What platform do you use for telehealth?
We use a secure, HIPAA-compliant video platform. You’ll receive a link before your appointment. All you need is a private space and a device with a camera and internet connection.
Anxiety & Depression
How do I know if I have anxiety or depression, or both?
Anxiety and depression frequently co-occur, and their symptoms can overlap (difficulty sleeping, trouble concentrating, irritability). A thorough evaluation with one of our therapists will help clarify what you’re experiencing and determine the most effective treatment approach.

Can anxiety or depression be treated without medication?
Yes. Many people manage anxiety and depression effectively through therapy alone, particularly with approaches like CBT. Medication is one option, not a requirement. Your treatment plan will be tailored to your needs and preferences.
How long does therapy for anxiety or depression typically take?
Many clients notice improvement within 8-12 sessions, though it varies. Factors that influence the timeline include symptom severity, how long you’ve been experiencing symptoms, and whether co-occurring conditions are present.
ADHD
Do you diagnose ADHD in adults?
Yes. We offer comprehensive ADHD evaluations for both adults and children. Many adults were never diagnosed as children and have spent years wondering why they struggle with focus and organization.
Is ADHD testing different for adults than for children?
The core assessment tools are similar, but the evaluation is adapted for adults, including a review of lifelong patterns, current functioning, and how symptoms affect work, relationships, and daily life.

Child & Adolescent Therapy
At what age can my child start therapy?
We work with children as young as 6-7 years old. For younger children, play-based approaches are the primary method. There’s no minimum age for a parent consultation.
What if my teenager doesn’t want to go to therapy?
This is very common. Many teens are initially resistant but warm up after a few sessions. Our clinicians are skilled at engaging reluctant teens without pressure. We recommend giving it at least 2-3 sessions.
How involved will I be as a parent?
It depends on your child’s age. For younger children, parental involvement is higher. For teens, we balance their need for privacy with your need for information. Regular parent check-ins are part of the process.

Medication Management
Do I need to be in therapy to get medication?
While we strongly recommend combining medication with therapy for the best outcomes, it’s not a strict requirement. Your psychiatric provider will discuss the most effective treatment plan for your situation.
Can I do medication management appointments via telehealth?
Yes. Medication management appointments are available via telehealth for patients located in Florida.
What if my current medication isn’t working?
Schedule a medication management appointment so your provider can evaluate what’s happening and adjust your treatment plan. Sometimes a dose change, a different medication, or adding therapy makes the difference.
